Abracon’s ABS family of tuning fork quartz crystals is utilized in a wide range of applications from industrial and medical electronics to consumer IoT gadgets. These tuning fork crystals are suited for time management in RTC circuits needing small form factors. The ABS05 series tuning forks provide low power consumption to preserve long term battery life in many applications. While producing the same performance, Abracon has now developed and introduced a 4.0pF plated version of its miniature ABS05 series. This 4.0pF plated option will enable any circuit to consume less power and start-up significantly faster.
The ABS05 series is designed with the option of exceptionally low load capacitance at 4.0pF made possible with special process control techniques; a key factor for a low power consumption oscillator circuit. These techniques maximize the accuracy of the resonant frequency when part of a real-time clock (RTC) and final transmit frequency.
These crystals also have an ultra-miniature size at 1.6 x 1.0mm with a 4-pad SMD footprint. Despite the ultra-small size, the ABS05 Series has a maximum Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) of only 90 k?. Available frequency tolerances are ±30ppm, ±25ppm and ±20ppm with ±10ppm available on request. The ABS05 is an ideal solution for newer designs with tight size constraints.
